Most have heard the tales about the little, bright blue tricksters that roam England in search of more pranks to pull on unsuspecting victims, but most don’t know much about the actual creatures themselves.
Pixies are also native to Cornwall, which is where they get the name “Cornish pixies”. They only grow to be eight inches on average, making it easier for them to get away with their mischief. Although pixies have no wings, they are able to fly through the air at ease. These mischievous little critters enjoy lifting unaware passerby into the air, leaving them to hang in trees and buildings.
They have shrill voices and amazing strength compared to their size, but the Ministry of Magic only classifies them at XXX (XXXXXXX if you’re Lockhart, according to Harry Potter’s copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) meaning they should be easy to handle for skilled wizards or witches.
They are related to fairies and doxies, two more magical creatures that can be found all over England. Pixies are sold at the Magical Menagerie on Shadow Street for only 300 galleons, meaning anyone at Hogwarts can have one as a pet!
