A Day in the Life

Welcome back to A Day in the Life! We have so many amazing professors here at Hogwarts, it was hard choosing who to interview! I chose to interview a professor from one of my favorite classes; so today, I will be interviewing:

Professor Atlas Reid

She teaches CoMC and she is also the Graduate Teacher of Magizoology!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Flora: Hello Professor Reid, My first question for you is: Did you always want to teach at Hogwarts or did you want to be something else?
Atlas: Oh uhm no, I actually never thought I would be a professor. Growing up my father was an Auror and he and I were extremely close so I always wanted to be like him and follow in his footsteps. As a kid, I would run around with a stick in hand and pretend to cast spells on my parents as they eagerly played along.
Flora: Oh wow, an Auror; I could definitely see you as an Auror, but I like you better as a Professor! What is it like being a professor?
Atlas: Now, although I never imagined being a professor, I have sincerely loved every minute of it! Being a professor is one of the most rewarding experiences because you get to watch students grow around you and find their passions just as you did when you were a student. I can't speak for all professors but being the CoMC professor has its major perks where I get paid to play with creatures all day! I mean whhaaattt?! It honestly feels less like a job and more of a full-time hobby XD
Flora: Well, you are an amazing professor, and it's awesome that you get to teach us about so many different and cool creatures! I'm glad you have fun with your job! So, is your favorite subject CoMC or do you have a different favorite subject?
Atlas: Not sure if this counts as they are very similar and I teach both XD but my favorite subject is Magizoology! Don't get me wrong, I love CoMC ALOT but there is something so rewarding about getting to travel with students to different countries and really get up close and personal with some intimidating and exhilarating creatures. It is a lot more hands-on and quick thinking on your feet and I get to spend time with students who really have a passion for the field. To me, it is a bit more stressful because I have to make sure none of my pupils die on the trip but beyond that, it feels like a vacation where I am also helping students think outside the box and help understand the hard to observe creatures.
Flora: Magizoology sounds both hard and fun and it totally counts as a favorite subject! I’m actually thinking of studying it in the future. My next question is: If you could be any magical creature for the day, which one would you be and why?
Atlas: Ooooo asking all the hard questions.... gahhh I think I will have to pick my favorite creature the Zouwu because then I could truly understand their personality, nature, hunting tactics, and of course their ridiculous speed! Zouwus are so mysterious and brilliant that by being one for a day I could discover more about them than anyone knows, as long as I can remember the experience once I'm a human again!
Flora: Wow! What a great choice, Zouwus seem like such cool creatures, and of course you would be able to remember the experience, it would be such a great story to tell everyone! The last question I have for you is: What is your favorite part about Hogwarts?
Atlas: The students of course! Every year we get brand new students that I can get to know and take under my wing while simultaneously watching the ones I've grown to know grow up in front of me. You all have your own histories, personalities, and hobbies just like creatures so I get to, in a way, study you all and learn from all of you! Another favorite thing is that no matter how much I walk these halls or explore the rooms there always seems to be something new to discover and seek out so there is never a dull moment here at Hogwarts!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I agree with her, Hogwarts is never dull! Thank you Professor Reid for letting me interview you and thank you for reading!! I hope you all have an amazing week and to everyone celebrating today...
