Rushing to the next class hoping you aren’t late or excitedly walking towards the Great Hall or even practically skipping happily out of the school to enjoy a sunny day all have something in common. And not just the very obvious fact that it all happens in Hogwarts. And while yes, they happen everyday, that’s not the point either. What is? Why, the paintings you see around the hallways of course!

Throughout the ages, wizards and witches alike make their name known among the Wizarding community. There are those who even make it to become portable in the prestigious school we all know and love. But times change, people change. In the modern world, there is a little something muggleborns are quite familiar with, although not everyone is familiar with the curious things muggles invent and create.

In fact, in most recent times, just the other day, I was heading towards the common rooms. Overheard some first years, gawking at the portraits in the school and calling them, “wizard gifs.” Like, what exactly is a “gif”? Definitely not a painting that can move, since it isn’t likely muggles could’ve figured out something like that.

Whatever the case, it is still quite a curious coincidence for the muggles to have something even remotely similar to the paintings you’d find in the Wizarding World. We all are aware of the muggles perceptiveness in today’s world but the question is how did it even come to be? Perhaps an idea given by a wizard or which by pure accident? Or maybe someone ran into a portrait and wanted to recreate the effect? What would you say be a possibility?
