Talking about points like who’s in the lead, who has earned the most for their house. You have friendly conversations with each other, probably talking about anything from which classes are the best to which food served is better. And don’t forget the candy! Would you have believed a harmless argument like that would escalate to something else? No, not a fight. Not a new friendship. Not a huge debate in the courtyard on which is better. Even if technically all of the above is possible. Try something more unexpected.

Regardless, the people at their table were starting to look their way.

The first student had raised an eyebrow in a challenging way before instantly saying, “Tell me why?” a bit too loudly.

What happens next? The Great Hall erupted into some muggleborns, maybe some half-blood, singing, “Ain’t nothin’ but a heartacheee.” Clearly, the Backstreet Boys’ song is that well known. Excluding the confused pure-bloods who were honestly just confused.
