Spells, magical classes, and a prestigious school also known as Hogwarts. Everyday life in the castle? Normal house rivalry. Talking about points like who’s in the lead, who has earned the most for their house. You have friendly conversations with each other, probably talking about anything from which classes are the best to which food served is better. And don’t forget the candy! Chocolate frogs versus Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans.
Would you have believed a harmless argument like that would escalate to something else? No, not a fight. Not a new friendship. Not a huge debate in the courtyard on which is better. Even if technically all of the above is possible. Try something more unexpected.
Truth be told, not many know how it all started. But the few who do? The sky was blue, the weather was warm, and everyone was at the Great Hall having lunch. They say one student had stated, “Chocolate Frogs are best, you can’t change my mind. You even get Wizarding cards with them!”
Then another argued by saying louder than the first, “No way! Every Flavour Beans are better.” Enough to catch the attention of the wizards and witches around them. Some in an annoyed way others amused and others because they were trying to figure out what happened, considering they all didn’t quite catch the second student’s words. Regardless, the people at their table were starting to look their way.
The first student had raised an eyebrow in a challenging way before instantly saying, “Tell me why?” a bit too loudly.
What happens next? The Great Hall erupted into some muggleborns, maybe some half-blood, singing, “Ain’t nothin’ but a heartacheee.” Clearly, the Backstreet Boys’ song is that well known. Excluding the confused pure-bloods who were honestly just confused.
Meanwhile, remember the two from the beginning? Never really finished the argument. All the way down to the last words of the song in chorus with everyone else, “'Cause I want it that wayyyyy!”
