Creatures Among Us:
Issue #4
The past couple of months have been revealing in many ways. During a meeting with my father at Hogg’s Head Inn in Hogsmeade, I discovered that the woman he had been meeting with at the Shrieking Shack was in fact his sister. The reason for these secret meetings was because my aunt Brianne lives in the Forbidden Forest; as a werewolf.
My father and aunt had been meeting to discuss the rise of creature activity in the wizarding world; particularly dark creatures. I was invited to be a part of these meetings, now that I was helping my father with research and recording notes, that he did not have time for, to help with his cases as a private investigator.
Brianne seemed like any other nice witch that I have met over the past six years. Her banter with my father helped keep the mood light as we discussed the increase of gnome activity, and the mysterious figure that my father had seen a couple of months ago.
While not particularly dangerous to humans, gnomes were certainly causing havoc on many gardens in Hogsmeade. According to research, the only ways to get rid of them involved Jarveys, or spinning them over onee’s head and flinging them off into the distance.
Between my father and aunt, they had been surveying gardens for the last couple of months to see if they could catch anyone in the act. One particular evening, my aunt reported that she had seen a man coming into the forest, to the habitat of gnomes, and he began retrieving them. Brianne followed him, in wolf form, to observe his behaviour. As he released the first load of gnomes, Brianne had howled loudly at the full moon to alert the homeowner inside. A very angry wizard emerged from the house and summoned the Aurors. The guilty wizard admitted there had been a feud between them for the past year about the size of their tomatoes! The gnomes had been sent to destroy the homeowner’s garden, one last time. The guilty wizard was apprehended under these charges by the Aurors: Destruction of Property and Trespassing.
If you have seen some strange activity recently in either Hogsmeade visits or in Diagon Alley, or perhaps you have received owls from your parents or such, or you’ve seen some strange incidents around the Forbidden Forest, please feel free to send an owl my way! We would be happy to work with you and solve your mysteries!
