HP 4: The Yule Ball
The Yule Ball in the fourth film is one of my favorite scenes. I love all those sumptuous outfits that are a change from wizard's robes, those dances, those songs... and of course all the iconic scenes that go with them: the Gryffindor dance practice with McGonagall as teacher, all the scenes where Harry and Ron try to find a date for the ball...
Speaking of dates, a deleted scene shows us how the Durmstrang wizards went about asking girls to the ball. Here are a few seconds of a bonus scene, before we move on to the Yule Ball's greatest deleted moment. And look how discouraged Harry and Ron feel at the end! Their facial expressions are laugh-out-loud funny. (Don't forget to activate the sound to hear the video)
Has this first deleted scene made your mouth water? Wonderful! Let's get on with the rest of the ball. The students all arrived in the Great Hall, the first dance was performed by the four champions, then everyone joined them on stage for a few romantic dances. Then the Weird Sisters arrived to sing their legendary song "Do the Hippogriff". Personally, I've always found this scene far too short! I love rock music and it gave the evening a great atmosphere. Do you?
But fortunately, I've found the deleted scene where you can hear the band singing the whole song, with all the young (and not so young) wizards going wild! Come and listen to this little gem:
I'm feeling really energetic right now! I'll be able to listen to that song over and over again, and maybe now we'll hear a few Hogwarts students singing it in the corridors...
It's time for me to leave you now, and I'll see you in two weeks' time for a new episode!
