The Lioness

Professor McGonagall

Minerva: The LIONESS, THE PROTECTOR.

Minerva McGonagall is one of the most iconic characters within our Harry Potter Universe. Portrayed by the iconic Maggie Smith, Minerva is beloved for being the Head of Gryffindor. She represents the epitome of strength, courage and dedication to all her lions and the students of the Castle. Seeing the students through some incredibly difficult times, Minerva is well known throughout the magical world. Without a shadow of a doubt, Minerva is iconic, well respected and played a critical role in the fight against Voldemort. (It's a name Filius, you may aswell use it... he's going to try and get you either way!) From her tenure as Transfiguration teacher, to eventual Head of the School. Let's dive in to the true lioness of Gryffindor house.

Unyielding

"As a true Gryffindor, McGonagall embodies the house's values of bravery, courage, and chivalry. Her unyielding spirit and commitment to doing what is right often placed her in direct opposition to dark forces, both within and outside Hogwarts. Whether standing up to Dolores Umbridge (Personally loved the section in which she takes on Delores during Harry's Auror Career Talk... Ginger Newt Potter?) or taking on Death Eaters during her battle of Hogwarts, McGonagall’s actions consistently demonstrate her fearless nature and strong moral compass."

Minerva McGonagall we know is incredibly skilled in Magic, becoming a Mistress of Transfiguration she demonstrates a grasp of complex magic and further shows us this as she is one of the few known Animagus shown in the series - being able to Transform into a Tabby Cat with her iconic glasses markings. An expert she is, she has a reputation as one of the greatest and most fair magical educators in the Wizarding World, who certainly does not take any nonsense!

During the Battle of Hogwarts

Minerva McGonagall was a powerhouse and far more important than her Piertotum Locomotor spell. During the battle, her leadership ensured the safety of many students in her care and she showed how formidable she was. Stepping into the limelight, she took on Severus Snape to reseize the school and then orchestrated the defense. With her strategic mind (and incredible chess playing) she rallied the students and Order to fight Voldemort. McGonagall’s bravery during this time solidified her legacy as one of the greatest leaders Hogwarts has ever seen. There is no argument to this. She was iconic.

Professor Minerva McGonagall has had a significant impact on the wizarding world. Her contributions to magical education, her leadership during times of crisis, and her unwavering principles make her a role model for witches and wizards everywhere. McGonagall’s influence extends far beyond the walls of Hogwarts, making her one of the greatest witches in history. Minerva is more than just a teacher of Hogwarts. She is a symbol of resillience, wisdom and courage of a lioness protecting her cubs. Her legacy is inspirational and her magical mark is nothing short of extraordinary.
