Hello! Welcome back to History of Magical creatures, where we will talk about a magical creature one article at a time, and today we will be talking about none other than the Greek bird Phoenix! The Phoenix is a legonadary bird that is said to be immortal. and as the saying goes when the Phoenix dies it goes up in flames, decomposes then is reborn from the ashes of its predecessor.

Though originating from Greek mythology the modern English word "phoenix" came from the Latin language and was later reenforced by the French. And, in time the word developed use in the English language. The Greek word "phoenix" came from Mycenaean Greek which is said to have probably meant "Griffin" or "palm tree"

The Phoenix is said to be pictured in ancient and medieval art showing with a halo, which they say is the birds connection with the sun. Over time the Phoenix became associated with specific colors, and although it was generally believed that the Phoenix was colorful and vibrant, there is no source that shows that coloration.
