Melofors is also known as the Pumpkin-head jinx. It's a jinx that encases the victim's head in a pumpkin. If there is any onlooker, it will seem like the victim's head is actually transformed into a pumpkin. But, as the pumpkin will fall off after a short time or is breakable, that isn't the case.
A mysterious Halloween figure named Pumpkin Johnny was said to cast this jinx on students at Hogwarts. It is said that Pumpkin Johnny was a former student at Hogwarts, who was bullied because he liked pumpkins so much. Once, he had his head trapped in a pumpkin and a student attacked him with a jinx. He then fled into the Forbidden Forest and was never seen again. It's said that he can be summoned on Halloween if his name is said aloud three times.
Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ronald Weasley learned about Melofors during the school year 1994–1995. They were taught by Bartemius Crouch Junior, while he was disguised as Alastor Moody. They used the jinx on multiple Erklings during that year.
In the school year 1995–1996, it was told that Albus Dumbledore managed to escape Hogwarts after they wanted to arrest him. But a rumour said that Cornelius Fudge ended up at St. Mungos with a pumpkin head.
