The Hot Seat is the place where I reveal the true life story of a beloved writer here on WoP. We delve into their WoP life history, their characters and a few juicy secrets. If you've ever wondered why people join WoP and stay here for so long, or perhaps wondered how it all began for them? The Hot Seat is going to reveal it all!
For my first victim interview, I am honoured to have the wonderful Azia Cargile join me.
Azia is Head of Badger house on WoP, she's also temporarily heading up our social team, meaning she's my boss (yuck) (this interview took place before Cassia took over the team, ed.) but also my esteemed colleague and friend.
She's responsible for taking care of our badgers, and coming up with all things badger for them to too. She's also responsible for ensuring our social content doesn't suck big time. So lets dive in...
What made you join World of Potter? And how long have you been a member?
Oh my, years ago. Over half a decade but not quite a full decade just yet. I was searching for Harry Potter RP's and WoP came up on google and I checked it out! Honestly it seemed like a fun game and I'm all for some fun.
Don't we know it, when I think of Azi, I think a laugh. What was the first thing you did on site?
I'd assume the very first thing was say hi in chat or the like but the first thing I actively remember doing was a Transfiguration lesson. It was lots of take in but oh so exciting.
Our lessons are something that stands out to me, never seen a roleplay site like it til I joined WoP. Can you remember your first topic?
I don't remember the actual topic now but I do remember it being on the grounds... it was so busy that trying to get a reply in was crazy!
Who was your first friend? How did you meet them on site?
Unfortunately my first friend is no longer around on site, though we still chat. They helped me write my first homework (Transfiguration) and offered to proofread it for me!
Sounds like a very helpful friend! Now here's the big question I've been itching to know, what jobs have you had on site?
Ooooh, all sorts, under various names. The best one had to be Head of House though. ;)
Very political dodge but I'll let it slide with you being my boss (sorry folks). Whats your favourite feature on site?
Currently my favourite feature on site is being able to disable pet cuddle notifications...is that bad? The aquarium is large and I don't want to miss other notifications! But I also really love the ability we now have to sort and filter our topic forums out in our list of topics we're following.
Two great features...I wouldn't say it's too bad? Right guys! Okay, so you dodged the job questions, but how many characters have you written?
Oh far too many over the years. There's just so many different stories to write out and so many ideas and personalities and so much to discover with your character. I'll also never miss that rush of the first welcome of a new character and navigating those first steps on site no matter how 'old' I get.
Well you heard it hear first all, she's old, haha. What do you enjoy most about the site?
The wide array of things to do from lessons to topics to clubs, to all the wonderful events the team puts on for us, and so much more going on all year round. We have a very dedicated team.
We really do, our staff team are amazing. Do you have any ambitions for your future life on site?
My current ambition is to paint the castle yellow when we win the house cup year after year, but other than that I'm quite happy where I am. Nothing brings me as much joy as my Badgers (or puffs) :D.
Well as an eagle, I got to say I hope there's a splash more blue in the castle than yellow but great ambition. What's your favourite thing about WoP in general?
The community. Every day. I've made some lifelong friends thanks to WoP and the group of people I see every day never fails to put a smile on my face.
They are a pretty special group of people. What's your favourite story or memory about your time with WoP?
Oh I don't think I can choose just one favourite, but I'll give you one particularly memorable one. My first ever quidditch game! I've never quite lost the thirst for them over the years.
She's a competitive one huh... for my final question, lets dig deep, tell us a secret about Azia?
A secret about Azia is that, occasionally, she will return to Beauxbatons just as a reminder of how quickly her life changed and to imagine what could have been. She's always been an overthinker.
Well that gave me the feels, any parting comments?
Sticking around on WoP over the years has taught me life skills that I never would have expected. I've also been able to tap into the knowledge of a diverse group of people and meet people with similar and vastly different life experiences and interests to me, and it never ceases to amaze me. World of Potter is about more than just writing, so take that first step, come say Hi, and make space for yourself in our little universe too! The caslte humbly awaits your memories.
