The Hot Seat

#Atlas Yearwood

The Hot Seat is the place where I reveal the true life story of a beloved writer here on WoP. We delve into their WOP life history, their characters and a few juicy secrets.
If you've ever wondered why people join WoP and stay here for so long,
or perhaps wondered how it all began for them?
The Hot Seat is going to reveal it all!

My next guest for the hot seat has been with us for about a year and has made a steady impact on site. It's Atlas Yearwood, lets do this!

Thanks for joining me Atlas, tell me, is Atlas your first character on WoP?

Atlas believe it or not is actually not my first character on the site. Very few people still know my original character I started with a friend about 5 years ago (shout out to Isabelle Nightshade!), but my original character's name was Annabeth Lucy Nightshade.

Oh I do love a regular, now Atlas is the music AT, what prompted you to apply for that job on site, and how's it been?

Many things honestly prompted me to apply for the Music AT position. One being that I myself love music and I myself have been a musician for nearly 7 years now. This job so far has been amazing! I love reading all the creative assignments people turn in!

From one musician to another hey ;) Atlas is in her fifth year in school now, has the character gone in the direction you originally thought when you created her?

Honestly not at all. It's crazy how different she is to when I first created her. At first, I planned on her being this normal sweet girl, but her story took a crazy turn. Now she's someone that doesn't back down from a fight and is fiercely protective of her friends. She's a true lioness at heart.

I love it when a character takes over, same for Luc to be honest. Tell me about the friends you've made on WoP, how did you meet each other?

Wow. I love everyone on this site! A couple of my closest friends are actually people I know from other sites (shoutout to Emma Cisne-Swansonamore and Alice Dumont!) Though I absolutely love everyone and it’s a joy being friends with so many amazing people like Kiara Zamira-Bona (amazing bestie).

Aww you're mentioning eagles and I happen to have a soft spot for them too. When grading music homework, what's something you look out for or like to see?

I love the creativity and effort people put into their assignments! It’s a joy to read about their passions! I also love that I get to read about so many amazing people that love music just as much and sometimes more than me!

I can almost hear you singing their praises...little pun there. Do you have any plans for Atlas after graduation?

Yes! I do! I plan to have Atlas train to become an auror once she graduates!

From music to fighting for the magical world, love it. Okay, here's one to help out other students, what's one piece of advice you'd give a budding music student?

Keep going! It may seem hard at first especially learning a new instrument or getting the hang of a concept you’ve never learned before, but let me tell you that it will get easier if you don’t give up and just push through!

Couldn't agree more with determination as a hack. If you could go back in time and re-write Atlas, is there anything you'd change?

Absolutely! I feel like every character I create could always have a change. If I could go back I think I would have expanded her story more and added a few details to her backstory that don’t exist in her current story. Such as her having a sibling she never knew about because her mom took that child away and left Atlas behind with her father.

Maybe a sibling would be difficult but never too late to do a topic in the past. Have you had a favourite topic or event you've taken part in?

Oh yes! I absolutely loved the first thread I ever did with Kiara Zamira-Bona! It was such a joy to write alongside her as I love her writing.

Hopefully they'll link it in comments..hint! What's your favourite feature on site?

My favorite feature on the site is the AT program (not because I’m an AT lol)! I think I believe this because ATs do so much to help out the teachers and it’s amazing seeing how much work and love so many put into their jobs and I wish that other hp sites would integrate staff positions like that!

Girl, you just broke my brain, I never thought of a site job as a feature, but you're totally right! If Atlas wasn't a lion, what house would she be in?

Honestly she would probably be a Snake. She's got a bit of that feisty nature I've seen before in Snakes.

Heard it here first lions...Anything else you'd like to add?

A tip from an older year here. lol. It may seem at first that you don't fit in or no one likes you, but let me say that I can guarantee you'll find your place here! Whether it be a part of the staff, on the Quidditch team, or just a regular user, everyone has a place here!

Thanks for your honesty and a fun interview Atlas!

If you'd like to find yourself in The Hot Seat, then send me, Lucian Nightwell, an owl and we'll make it happen.
