I Can See Color: Librarian
Hello! Welcome to this week's I Can See Color! In this blog, I interview members with IG jobs so that you can get to know what it's like. I've already interviewed a flez, grep, and boysen. Thank you to everyone who commented on my last blog. It might not seem like much, but knowing that people are enjoying my blog means a lot to me.
This week, I interviewed a member of the chaotic awesome Library Team, Piper Minthorn!. Piper has written some great books during her time as a pumkin and I've loved to read them. If you ever have some free time on WoP, I suggest checking out some library books. They're very well written and out librarians put so much work into them. Now, you probably want to here more from Piper, so let's start the interview.
Me: Hi Piper! I'm so happy to be interviewing you on I Can See Color today. For anyone who doesn't know how this works, I'll be asking our lovely Librarian 5 questions about her jobs. Maybe her answers will persuade you to apply. Now, I'll start asking questions. Why did you apply to be a librarian?
Piper: As I was looking through the open jobs all those months ago, librarian was a position that really stuck out to me because I love writing! Even the job application itself was fun for me, because I got to write an example of a book that could possibly be featured in the Hogwarts library!
Me: Being a pumpkin does mean a lot of writing. Even more than most other jobs on WoP. And it's always a good sign when the application for a job is fun. That probably means the job will be fun too. Now, on with the questioning. How did you feel when your application was accepted?
Piper: When I got the owl from Flame man about accepting the job I couldn't believe it at first. I read the note over and over and then accepted of course! I was soooo excited and couldn't wait to get started on a book!
Me: Getting accepted for a job is kind of surreal. I felt the same way when I was accepted for SoMe. But, after reading the book you've written, I think we all know that you're absolutely perfect for this job. That leads us right into our next question. What are some things that librarians do?
Piper: Well, first and foremost we help take care of our lovely Hogwarts library! Our team has a list of books that need updating, or books in general that we need, from our lovely boss that we can make a request to work on those - or request a new book if we think it would be helpful. In addition to that we also help people around on site, answering questions new users might have and things like that!
Me: Wow! Librarians have a lot of work to do. It really makes you appreciate how much goes into one book. Speaking of books, try to go check one out at some point this week. Now, you may do a lot, but you have to like some things more than others. What’s your favorite part of being a librarian?
Piper: I would say my favorite part of being a librarian is being able to help everyone on site by creating a full library! A goal I have as a librarian is to have all information needed for lessons and such available on site without needing the wiki!
Me: Our library has been filling up these past few months. In fact, there was a new book added just yesterday. I can't tell you how many times I've used a book for help with a lesson and exam. It's so much easier to look in the library than scroll through wiki pages in search of something. So, next time your doing an assignment, check the library before googling it. Now, we only have one more question left. What’s one thing you’ve learned from being a librarian?
Piper: One thing I've learned from being a librarian, and being on staff here in general, is that WoP is filled with a whole bunch of lovely people who only want the best for everyone, IG, OOG, however else - I'm so happy to be a part of this lovely team of people! Shout-out to my lovely pumpkin crew, y'all are the best!
Me: WoP does have so many amazing people on it. It's what makes our site so special. No matter if you're a part of the staff or not, try to be one of them. Being kind might not seem like much, but it could mske someone's day. Now, we better end before I start crying. Thank you so much for being here today Piper. See you next time!
So, now you know a lot more about being a pumpkin. I learned some things too which was supriseing because I know everything. Our pumpkins do so much for the site and deserve all the appreciation that we can give. Huge shoutout to Piper and the pumpkins which should totally be a band name. If you see any of them around the site, take a momment to thank them for everything they do. You can also leave a comment of appreciation down below.
Now that I have your attention, I’d like to say that if you want to bw on the SoMe Team, go to the homepage and if the position is open. If it is, go to the club page and find out how to apply. I'd love to see some new faces around here.

Since this is a bi-weekly blog, it happens every two weeks. I’ll do a different job each week. If you’re interested in an interview or reading about a specific job, please owl me (Skyler Midleus) or write your suggestion in the comments below. I'd love to have some new faces on I Can See Color. Especcialy if your job hasn't been done before. If I reach out to you for an interview, you have 3 days to respond or I’ll automatically think you’re not interested and have to choose someone else. Thank you for reading and make sure to tune into our next issue.
