Written in the Stars || Perseus

Good day everyone! Today we are going to be learning about Perseus! I really never heard of this constellation until I was looking up different types of contellations! So I hope you guys enjoy!

Perseus was know as a great hero of classical mythology! He is the son of Jumipter and Dane. He is best known for putting the end to Gorgon Medusa as well. It was an interesting task he had to do. We all know that if you look at Medusa you will be turned into stone. The Gorgons wer also known as "monstrous females with huge teeth and snaky hair". He would have been stone, if it wasn't for the help of Pluto, Mercury and Minverva. Pluto lent his helmet of invisibility to Perseus, Mercury lent the hero his winged sandals, and Minerva allowed him the use of her shield. With all of that they gave him, Perseus was able to get a striking range without being detected by Medusa or the Gorgons. He was able to use the shield to end Medusa, once and for all

As he brought the head of Gorgon's back as a trophy, blood fell to the earth, and created different types od dealy snakes, making the land full of them. He was then banished from the kingdom and he was like a raincloud, going mostly everywhere, and unable to steady the movement where he went.

He was worn and tired. he found himself in Atlas that was at the ends of the Earth. Atlas tried to turn Percus away will alll of his strength. That mad perseus made and showed him the head of Medusa. When he looked at the head, he was immeditally turned into stone. His beard and hair were turned into trees, his hands and shoulders were mountain ridges, and what had been his head was now the mountain top. His bones became rock. Perseus flew on until he spotted the beautiful woman by the name of Andromeda, who was a sacrifice to a sea monster. Perseus promptly fell in love with her, ende the monster, and married Andromeda

Of course there are many differnt types of this story that there are around the world. Some have hime wining the winged sandles, and helments for the threee Graeae, sisters Gorgons who shared one eye and one tooth among them. He stole the eye and the tooth, returning them only in exchange for the sandals and the helmet he needed to defeat Medusa.

When he passed, many years later, he was immortalized as a constellation. He can be found near Andromeda and her parents, Cepheus and Cassiopeia, in the northern sky. The hero is depicted with a sword in one hand and the head of Medusa in the other
