The Life of a Student

The Life of a Former Student

Hello and welcome back to the Life of a Student! Year 18 is in full swing and I’m sure that everybody is quite busy! This week, I wanted to give everyone a look at how things could potentially turn out for our students. So, I went looking for former students, to see what their lives were like as a student, and how things have turned out for them. I would like to thank the lovely Carina Lee, who is the backstory team leader here, for doing this interview!

--------------------------------------------------

Me: When you were a student, did you ever think that you would have your current job?

Ms. Lee: I did not! I never could’ve imagined myself in my current position because of the amount of hard work, dedication, and skill that is required.

Me: Did you have a favorite year as a student? Why?

Ms. Lee: My favorite year as a student would have to have been my third year because I was quidditch captain, and our quidditch team that year was amazing. As well as we were finally able to go down to Hogsmeade, those weekends were the most fun!

Me: Did you ever have any student jobs? If so, which one was your favorite?

Ms. Lee: My very first job was the Assistant Teacher for Charms and it was my only student job. I really enjoyed my time as an AT and highly recommend the job if you enjoy grading homework!

Me: What was your favorite subject at Hogwarts? Is that subject still useful to you today?

Ms. Lee: My favorite subject was, ironically enough, Charms! It’s still very useful for me today and I must say that I have become quite skilled in basic healing charms as well as cleaning charms because of my children and my job. Lots of minor injuries and a ton of messes!

Me: Would you categorize yourself as having been a good student? Why or why not?

Ms. Lee: I do think I was a good student! I stayed out of trouble, did well in my classes and was active in extracurricular groups! I was part of quidditch, the Slytherin Welcoming Team, the Homework team, and the Awards team!

Me: What do you miss most about your time at Hogwarts?

Ms. Lee: The thing I miss most about being at Hogwarts is probably playing quidditch, even though I played professionally for a little while there’s nothing quite like the rivalry game between Slytherin and Gryffindor! The noise of the students cheering, and even the occasional injury was all worth it to play in such a historic game.

Me: What is one piece of advice you would give to current students?

Ms. Lee: My advice would be to find something that you’re passionate about and use that to figure out what you want to do after Hogwarts. Don’t fall into only doing the easy classes or taking a job you aren’t in love with because you want the notoriety. What you do or don’t do at Hogwarts will follow you into life after Hogwarts. Be adventurous, take a new class. Find what makes you feel alive and use that as your guide!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope that you learned a thing or two from Ms. Lee! She was a pleasure to interview, and I am so grateful to her for her awesome answers. She does a great job managing our lovely backstory team, so if you see her around, make sure to say hello! Have a lovely rest of your week my fabulous readers. See you next time!
