Overview

The diricawl also known as a dodo for muggles, is a chubby, flightless and fluffy magical bird.

About the diricawl

Diricawls are native to Mauritius located in the Indian Ocean. The little bird could disappear into the thin air and reappear elsewhere. This disappearance could be broken by the effect of levioso. Diricawl eggs are told to be greenish in color.

History of the diricawl

Muggles thought that diricawl are extinct, but in reality diricawls still existed but it had refined its use of disappearing into a way of protection. The international confederation of wizards knew that muggles thought the diricawls to be extinct, but they chose not to tell the muggles that the bird wasn't to the chances of muggles trying to harm the birds.

During 1890-1891 at Hogwarts the new fifth year student retrieved the diricawl Gwyneira for Marianna Moffet.

In 1926 Newt Scamander had a diricawl flock in his suitcase while he visited New York.

During the school years of 1989-1990 professor Silvanus Kettleburn taught his sixth-year students about the diricawl in his care of magical creatures in class.
