Overview
The fire protection potion is also known as the ice potion. It's a potion used when a person has to move through flames unharmed. When a person drinks it gives them an ice cold feeling inside and protects the drinker from magical induced fires.
History
In the school year of 1985-1986 the ice potion was taught to second year classes by Professor Snape. During the same year Jacob’s sibling and their friend Ben Copper were brewing this potion and poured it into the parchment which contained the Marauders puzzle. Then they tossed the paper containing the potion into the fire and were congratulated to have solved the puzzle.
The ice potion was also part of the protection of the Philosopher’s stone. So during September of 1991 Severus Snape was brewing the potion. Both Harry Potter and Quirinus Quirrell drank the potion to get through the flames that were protecting the mirror of erised.
