Overview

Sometimes called Monkshood or Wolfsbane, aconite is a plant with magical aspects that grows rare hybrids in the Forbidden Forest.

History

While the flowers were used to make potions, the leaves were toxic, the roots could also be used in potions. Aconite is used to brew the wolfsbane and wideye potions.

Wolfsbane was found in a no-maj nursery on May 30th 1927. September 2nd in 1991 Snape questioned Harry Potter on his knowledge of this plant to test his intelligence.

1988 - 1989: Students in fifth year were taught how to harvest things from aconite by Professor Sprout.

1990 - 1991: Aconite was mentioned on Herbology NEWT exams.

2010 - 2011: Daniel Page, a muggle born student found Aconite in the Forbidden Forest while helping Rubeus Hagrid collect dittany for Essence of dittany to help heal Teartalon the Hippogriff.
