Overview
Erumpent potion is one of the more dangerous mixtures in potion-making because it reacts violently on impact. It isn’t used in everyday magic; the potion has to be handled very carefully at all times, which is why it isn’t part of the regular Hogwarts curriculum.
History
The potion has existed for many years, studied mainly by potion experts who work with materials from magical creatures. Since erumpent fluid itself is so volatile, the potion has always been considered a high-risk mixture, hence why it’s mainly mentioned in notes about dangerous potions rather in classroom practice.
