Overview
The draught of living death is a powerful sleeping potion that places the drinker in a state resembling death, so basically the person is alive but unconscious and unresponsive. Because of its strength, it’s said to be brewed with extreme care and is considered one of the most difficult potions taught at Hogwarts.
History
The potion has been known to wizardkind for centuries and is believed to be a prime example of advanced potion making. There’s a famous story about a wizard prince who used a Wiggenweld potion to awaken a princess who had been given the draught of the living dead by the hag Leticia Somnolens. Due to its powerful effects, it is treated with caution and respect.
