Overview

Scourgify, or the Scouring Charm, is a fourth-year cleaning charm. It is a particularly useful charm with many applications. It is often considered a ‘household’ spell due to its cleaning properties.

History

This highly useful spell has been around for a long time and can be used for a number of things. One of the less pleasant uses is to ‘wash out’ someone’s mouth with soap. A particularly unpleasant punishment for children, which was once used against Severus Snape by James Potter in a bout of childish torment.
