Overview

Yew is a tree or shrub that is part of the Taxaceae family. Every part of this plant is poisonous.

History:

Yew trees are known to grow in the Forbidden Forest. One also stood in Little Hangleton graveyard, where Voldemort had been resurrected.

According to Ollivander, yew wands were said to be quite rare, and they favored owners who were unusual and genuinely notorious.

Wands made of yew were said to be powerful, especially with dueling and curses.

When the owner of a yew wand passed, a yew tree would sprout near their graves, meaning they always chose strong and protective owners.
