Overview

Native to Tibet and Alternatively called Bigfoot and the abominable snowman, the yeti is a 15 foot tall humanoid creature with white fur that is related to the troll.

Yetis are said to be one of the worst kept secrets by the ministry, leading to several muggle sightings over the years. This became so severe, the international confederation of wizards had to permanently place a task force in the mountains to help control the situation.

Their fear of fire made them easy to repel, however due to its violent nature and tendency to attack anything that got too close, not many have been studied closely.

Their fur can be used as a potion ingredient.

History

  • 1984 - 1985: Silvanus Kettleburn imported a yeti into his CoMC classroom, where it later escaped and roamed the school for years, earning itself the name: the legendary yeti of Hogwarts. Despite a few people fear of the yeti being violent, due to Rita Seeker's entry to the daily prophet, the yeti never harmed anyone. The yeti was later captured by Jacob's siblings and Rowan Khanna and returned to Kettleburn.
  • 1992: Gildory Lockhart taught his second year students about yetis in DADA class using his own book, however it was twisted information.
  • 1998: The quibbler raised suspicion about four footprints being found and whether they belonged to a yeti or if it was a prank.
