Hogwarts Acceptance Letter

Basic Information
Usage To inform students of their acceptance to Hogwarts

Overview

This letter is sent to any witch/wizard who has been accepted into Hogwarts. This letter is usually sent to the students at 11 years old, prior to their first year, even to muggle-borns. A special quill which wrote down the name and birth of each child who showed any signs of being magical, so that the acceptance letter could be sent out at the proper time.

Creation

From at least 1983, Professor Minerva McGonagall got help from students who would volunteer to write the acceptance letters. It was their job to write the addresses and letters, while the lead volunteer collected the book and equipment list from professors.

Extra

  • In 1991, Harry Potter received his acceptance letter
  • If a fifth year were to receive their letter, it was a rare case. When it happened before 1st of September 1890, Professor Eleazar Fig would mentor them personally before coming to Hogwarts, to catch up with their fellow students. Their letters were much larger than a regular student’s letter.
