Overview
The Babbling Curse is a curse that causes uncontrollable babbling in whoever it is cast on.
Effects
Whatever an opponent was holding at the moment - typically a wand - would fly high out of their hand when they used the Disarming Charm.
Additionally, if several opponents were nearby, a single Disarming Charm may disarm them all. A target could even be sent flying by multiple or extremely strong disarming charms, sometimes even knocking them out.
History
In the 1980s at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the Babbling Curse was commonly used by students in the Dueling Club. According to Gilderoy Lockhart, he once cured a Transylvanian farmer of this curse, an accomplishment that was more than likely achieved by a much braver witch or wizard, whom he used the Memory Charm on. In the 2010s, Zonko’s Joke Shop sold scrolls with instructions on how to cast the Babbling Curse successfully.
