The Banyan tree, sometimes also called the Banian tree is a type of fig tree.

Specifics

It was said that Gilderoy Lockhart rested under a Banyan tree during his journey to rescue a fire crab from poachers. However, due to his frequent dishonesty, it was unlikely this actually happened.
