Overview

Ali Bashir is a wizard and merchant who is known for selling Magic Carpets. He was most likely from the Middle East or a nearby region, where the Flying Carpet originated.

History

In 1994, Ali wanted to export his Flying Carpets to Britain. He contacted Arthur Weasley multiple times in search of a deal or to persuade Arthur to allow the exportation of his goods. Weasley informed him that technically, Carpets were a Muggle Artifact, as defined by the Registry of Proscribed Charmable Objects within the British Ministry of Magic, and thus banned. Even though brooms were the preferred method of transportation for wizardkind in Britain, Bashir believed that carpets could still be successfully marketed there as a family vehicle. Eventually, he was caught trying to smuggle carpets into the country.
