Overview
Bubotuber pus was thick yellow-greenish and foul smelling liquid that was squeezed from the magical bubotuber plant.
Specifics
It's known for its amazing acne curing properties, however when touched undiluted it can cause painful boils. It was said to be more reliable than most spells, which were risky as proved when Eloise Midgen accidentally cursed her nose off.
It can also be used in cosmetics, known to make a good mustache paste.
Sacharissa Tugwood was the first to discover the acne curing aspects of bubotuber pus.
Pamona Sprout had her fourth year students collect the pus in bottles during the 1994 - 1995 school year, which when harvesting they described as gross but satisfying. This same school year Hermione Granger was sent an envelope covered in pus by an unknown sender who believed Rita Seekers claims that she had relations with Harry Potter and Viktor Krum, when she touched it her hands erupted in yellow boils.
In August 1996 Molly Weasley mentioned that a false protective potion, which was really a mix of bubotuber pus and gravy was being sold in Diagon Alley. The 'potion' was said to protect against dark magic but had no actual effect.
During the calamity in the 2010s the statue of secrecy task force collected large amounts of bubotuber pus which they used to brew healing potions.
