Canary creams were a sweet treat sold at Weasleys Wizard Wheezes and Zonkos Joke Shop.

History

These treats were sold for 7 sickles and had the appearance of a normal custard. However, when eaten the person would turn into a canary for a minute before molting their feathers and returning back to normal.

In 1994, Neville Longbottom ate a canary cream when he mistakenly was reassured that Fred had been joking when he said they were hexed. He turned into a canary but soon after turned back and laughed.

Ron Weasley helped George with managing Weasley's Wizard Wheezes and offered a canary cream to a visiting student. After eating it with them and returning back to normal, the student inquired about others flavors, leading to Ron thinking it might be a good tactic to entice more people.

They were also sold at Zonkos Joke Shop in 2010, where a student planned to buy them for Robyn Thistlethwaite, who loved them.
