Overview

Often known to be a common spell in a duellist’s arsenal, the Impediment Jinx works by hindering the movement of a target, either by slowing it down or completely stopping it. Impediment jinx is commonly used in various duels as it causes minimal damage compared to many offensive spells.

Effect

Impediment Jinx primarily stopped or slowed the target, temporarily immobilizing them and providing the caster a moment to escape. Immobilization here could happen in a number of ways; it could either mean to push or throw a target backward, or decrease the velocity of the target’s movements. The Jinx even had the ability to freeze a wasp in mid-air.

The effects of the Impediment Jinx usually only last for a few seconds, so the spell would be temporary. Impediment Jinx could be used against most beasts and humans, though it cannot be used against armoured creatures such as Acromantulas and Blast-Ended Skrewts unless the spell hit their underbellies without a protective armour. Similarly, the Jinx will not be useful against creatures without a specific physical corporeal form such as lethifolds.
