Lexicon Ledgers #04

Order for a world known for chaos
What is the Lexicon?

Welcome, welcome, welcome to a place where we promote order in a world filled with mayhem.
Lexicon is the Wikipedia of World of Potter US, written by our own Librarians on-site on various topics around the fandom, including, but not limited to, characters, magical plants and potions, magical objects, and more. Each month, the team will publish this blog, the Lexicon Ledgers, featuring a list of the Lexicon entries created during that month. Whether you are a first-year just starting out with your Transfiguration homework or a recent graduate working on Dragonology, this will be your go-to place whenever you begin something new.

Monthly Library Challenge

Excellent pieces of work to read, but what if there were a challenge for you as well?
The Monthly Challenge, introduced by the Team of Librarians, is pretty straightforward: each month, this blog will bring forth a set of six challenges related to some of the topics published in the Lexicon that month. You can complete each challenge, record your proof as suggested, and send it to one of the members of the Library Team. For each challenge completed, you will receive 10 Chocolate Frogs, and the most promising piece of work for each challenge will earn an additional prize, with a shout-out in the following blog. The challenges can vary from lessons to wall posts and even topics. The key is to explore the site as much as you can and make use of the Lexicon while you do. It's there for a reason!

1) Bowtruckle

The secret guardians of wand-wood trees, the key to unleash our full potential in the wizarding world. Head over to the Y3W6 lesson of CoMC and complete the prompt regarding these fascinating creatures. Send us an owl with the completed assignment afterward.

2) Bundimun

Pesky creatures that can bring down an entire house in a matter of seconds. It’s always useful to know how to defend yourself against such creatures as you move up in the wizarding world. Head over to the Y4W2 lesson of CoMC and find out which spell would come in handy against them.

3) Salazar Slytherin

One of the four bold founders, and perhaps the one with the most questionable values, Salazar Slytherin is certainly an intriguing character to learn about. Enroll in History of Magic today and read what the Y2W3 lesson has to say about him and the house he founded. Owl us the essay you prepare for the best grade!

4) Forbidden Forest

Undoubtedly one of the darkest places often discussed within the castle, the Forbidden Forest holds many memories for many students. What’s the story your character has involving the Forest? Perhaps they sneaked off there during their early years at the castle, or maybe something darker that would truly blow our minds. Make a wallpost about your character’s story and send us an owl afterward.

5) MACUSA

The American governing body of the wizarding world, MACUSA is certainly not unheard of around these parts. Can you think of a character on-site who has worked for MACUSA? If not, it’s time to stalk some well-written backstories! Send us an owl with the name of the character and details about what they actually did there.

6) Philosopher’s Stone

The Philosopher’s Stone is a legendary milestone in the field of Alchemy. Alchemy is one of the most mysterious branches of magic, starting from transmuting base metals into noble metal. Would this be something your character might be interested in? This is your opportunity to write a composition about Alchemy from your character’s perspective. Would they be interested in taking the class one day?
