Lexicon Ledgers #02

Order for a world known for chaos
What is the Lexicon?

Welcome, welcome, welcome to a place where we promote order in a world filled with mayhem.
Lexicon is the Wikipedia of World of Potter US, written by our own Librarians on-site on various topics around the fandom, including, but not limited to, characters, magical plants and potions, magical objects, and more. Each month, the team will publish this blog, the Lexicon Ledgers, featuring a list of the Lexicon entries created during that month. Whether you are a first-year just starting out with your Transfiguration homework or a recent graduate working on Dragonology, this will be your go-to place whenever you begin something new.

Monthly Library Challenge

Excellent pieces of work to read, but what if there were a challenge for you as well?
The Monthly Challenge, introduced by the Team of Librarians, is pretty straightforward: each month, this blog will bring forth a set of six challenges related to some of the topics published in the Lexicon that month. You can complete each challenge, record your proof as suggested, and send it to one of the members of the Library Team. For each challenge completed, you will receive 10 Chocolate Frogs, and the most promising piece of work for each challenge will earn an additional prize, with a shout-out in the following blog. The challenges can vary from lessons to wall posts and even topics. The key is to explore the site as much as you can and make use of the Lexicon while you do. It's there for a reason!

1) Moke

The lizards that could shrink at will have always played an integral part in the diversity of the wizarding world. This is your chance to test your luck with one, so head over to Moke and show us what you produced for the prompt.

2) Imperius Curse

The Unforgivable Curses always present excellent opportunities for writing. This will be the first time you encounter the concept as a Hogwarts student in a class for Imperius Curse so show us how your character faced the challenge. How difficult was it to resist the curse as a sixth-year?

3) Belladonna

Not an unfamiliar plant to many, Belladonna is quite famous as a literary symbol, if you've ever come across it. As toxic as it is beautiful, this mystical plant can be found almost everywhere, among both wizards and Muggles alike. Can you think of any character on WoP who experienced a tragedy involving Belladonna? If you can, owl us with a brief explanation of what happened.

4) Chadwick Boot

The story behind the founding of Ilvermorny - a magical school overseas - is truly inspiring. Imagine you've been invited into the dormitory of a few first-years in your house, and they're eagerly waiting for you to tell one of the stories in your repertoire. In a topic, wall post, or short RP entry, show us how your character ended the tale before bedtime.

5) Regerminating Potion

It might be the solution to a dead greenhouse, but the ones at Hogwarts are well cared for. Even so, this remains a potion we know very little about, so use this opportunity to consider how it might actually work to revive plants. It is said to have the ability to restore a dead Flitterbloom, so, in whatever format you prefer, brainstorm how it could produce the effects it is known for while taking realism into account.

6) Werewolf

Certainly an interesting topic for many, so here's this month's task: find a werewolf on-site, invite them for an interview, and prepare your own report on "A Day in the Life of a Werewolf." Is it any different from anyone else's? What challenges might they face within the wizarding community? The sky's the limit.
